The Vector Optics Continental x6 2–12×50 G4 is a versatile hunting rifle scope with a six-times zoom ratio, a 50 mm objective lens and a premium optical system combining German Schott HT glass, LaREE HD lenses and VePRO FMC fully multi-coated surfaces.
The exact SCOM-15 model uses a VET-10 BDC reticle with a G4-style layout, a six-level illuminated centre dot, a 30 mm one-piece tube and capped windage and elevation turrets. It is designed for practical hunting, rapid target acquisition and confident use across different distances and lighting conditions.
Image quality depends on more than the diameter of the objective lens. It is determined by the complete light path through the scope. Continental x6 2–12×50 combines several optical technologies to reduce reflections, light loss and colour fringing.
The 2–12× magnification range allows the scope to adapt to different hunting situations without changing the sighting system. Lower magnification supports orientation and tracking, while higher magnification provides more visible detail for precise aiming at increased distance.
The reticle is positioned in the second focal plane – SFP. Its apparent size remains unchanged as magnification is adjusted, providing a clean and familiar sight picture throughout the 2–12× range.
Because the reticle does not scale with the image, the angular values of the BDC reference marks correspond to a specific magnification. The VET-10 BDC chart and instructions should be followed when the holdover marks are used.
The reticle remains easy to recognise and does not become excessively small at low magnification.
The apparent thickness of the reticle lines remains unchanged across the complete zoom range.
The SFP configuration is suitable for straightforward aiming and frequent changes in magnification.
The VET-10 BDC reticle uses a G4-style arrangement with clearly defined main posts, a fine central aiming area and additional reference marks below the centre. This supports fast centring and provides reference points for trajectory compensation.
The manufacturer presents the BDC concept as a reference for .223 Remington and .308 Winchester. Actual correspondence between the marks and distance depends on the exact ammunition, muzzle velocity, mounting height, zero distance and atmospheric conditions.
Illumination is concentrated in the centre dot instead of lighting the complete reticle. This keeps the image clean and allows the shooter to select an appropriate intensity for the surrounding light.
Intensity can be matched to daylight, overcast weather, twilight or a dark target background.
The key aiming area is illuminated without adding unnecessary brightness to the main reticle lines.

The windage and elevation mechanisms are protected by caps that reduce the risk of unintended movement during hunting and shield the controls against dust, mud and moisture.
One click moves the point of impact by approximately 7.3 mm at 100 m.

On the exact SCOM-15 model, parallax is factory-set at 100 yards – approximately 91.4 m. The scope does not have a separate side-focus mechanism for parallax adjustment.
The eyepiece offers a –3 to +2 diopter compensation range for focusing the reticle to the shooter’s eyesight. The diopter ring does not change the parallax setting.
